You’ll feel unmotivated and uninspired to go on with life sometimes, and that’s okay. But don’t be trapped inside it for too long. Let’s talk about 5 reasons we’re feeling unmotivated to do anything. May this reading benefit you 🙂
Everyone has their own dreams to chase, their own path to go through, and their own ladder to climb. Some people want to be the richest man in the world, some want to be the strongest man, and some just want to have an easy and comfortable life. Basically, we all want different things in life, and different goals to achieve.
While working for that dream, there must be a time when you feel so lazy and unmotivated at some point in your life. When you just want to give up all the things and do nothing. It just feels like, you just don’t have any strength left to face the challenge that comes to you. You feel unmotivated and uninspired.
Seems like there’s nothing that you can hold up to keep fighting for your goals. It just looks like you’re just not destined to be successful. Even more so, anything you’re trying, everything goes into the drain and ends up in failure.
Unmotivated, uninspired, and failing. And you’re thinking, “should I just give up now?”
Please believe in me; you are not alone. There are so many people out there who have felt that. They feel unmotivated at some point in their lives. But, whether you want to beat it and become a successful person or get beaten by it and give up chasing your dreams, it’s only you can decide.
Thus, to defeat these enemies inside yourself, you must learn about them first. You must know why it is happening and what was the reason for it.
You must ask yourself, why do you feel unmotivated to do anything? What was the reason for that? What should you do when you feel unmotivated?” So that you can learn a way how to fight and beat them, and be back on track to your goals.
Reasons why people feel unmotivated
1. Pessimistic mind
A lot of people who feel unmotivated usually have pessimistic minds. They tend to see something from the worst aspect or believe that the worst outcome will happen to them.
They always overthink no matter what they do and eventually give up their dreams. People with a pessimistic mindset have difficulty motivating themself to hold onto their dreams whenever a challenge comes.
Remember, thinking is one of the reasons to be successful but overthink can drag you down.

“When you wake up every day, you have two choices. You can either be positive or negative, an optimist or a pessimist. I choose to be an optimist. It’s all a matter of perspective.”
– Harvey Mackay
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
– Winston Churchill
2. They don’t know the purpose of their life
People incline to feel unmotivated because they don’t know what the purpose of their life is. Even worse, they don’t even bother to find one.
Actually, everything that exists in this world has its own purpose. Whether it is a tree that stays still all the time or the cat that always plays around. Whether it’s the birds that fly high in the sky or the fish that swim deep in the sea. They all have their very own purpose of existence.
Moreover, as humans, we were given a mind and intelligence to think about what our life’s purpose is. You must try a lot of things, to find one. Thus, the purpose will become your motivation and inspiration to make you move forward and keep fighting for it.
“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for a newer and richer experience.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt

“The purpose of life is to contribute in some way to making things better.”
– Robert F. Kennedy
3. They don’t have any dreams
People usually feel unmotivated because they don’t have dreams, and they don’t know where to go. They just go wherever the wind blows. And in the end, they stop at the place with a barrier from being blown by the wind.
That’s the reason why people are feeling unmotivated and uninspired because they don’t have something to hold and things to fight for. They don’t know what they really want or what their dreams are. Thus, for them, they just keep walking without direction.
Dreams are something crucial to keep you going and keep you motivated. So, no matter how silly they are, as long as they are realistic dreams, surely they can motivate you.
“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.”
– Ashley Smith

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
– C.S. Lewis
4. Set Themselves Unrealistic Goals
As I said before, dreams are essential in our lives. It’s just like a car to brings us close to our destination. But, if you set yourself unrealistic goals, surely it cannot bring you anywhere. And in the end, you’ll just feel unmotivated and uninspired. You only have a car, but you plan to reach the moon with it.
Do you think you can ever reach that?
That’s why you need to set yourself realistic goals that you believe are something you can achieve so that you don’t stop in the middle of the road and feel unmotivated to chase them. Even worse, it could break you down and make you give up.
“The goal you set must be challenging. At the same time, it should be realistic and attainable, not impossible to reach. It should be challenging enough to make you stretch, but not so far that you break.”
– Rick Hansen
“What we need are positive, realistic goals and the willingness to work. Hard work and practical goals.”
– Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
5. They are too lazy to work harder
Laziness is the most common thing that lets people feel unmotivated. Even more so, with the existence of social media and online games, people always spend their time until they become lazy to do anything else.
Certainly, nothing good will come to you by being a lazy person. In fact, no matter what you do, your work is going to be messy because you’re too lazy. You’ll be forever feeling unmotivated and uninspired.
In your mind, whatever is going to happen, just let it happen because you are too lazy to work for the change.
“Stay away from lazy parasites, who perch on you just to satisfy their needs; they do not come to alleviate your burdens. Hence, their mission is to distract, detract and extract, and make you live in abject poverty.”
– Michael Bassey Johnson

“I can’t relate to lazy people. We don’t speak the same language. I don’t understand you. I don’t want to understand you.”
– Kobe Bryant
It is common to feel unmotivated and uninspired at some point in your life, and just be lazy. But don’t make it your habit. Don’t be trapped in that mind game. I’m sure that if you work hard to search for it, you will find something that can motivate and make your spirit return.
